Beaches

Staying in Orlando puts you in close proximity to some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida.

The east coast of Florida has some great beaches and an hour’s drive to the area known as “Florida’s Space Coast” spans across Cocoa Beach, Melbourne Beach, Palm Bay and Titusville and is home to several of the best surfing spots on the east coast. This is also home to Kennedy Space Center’s Visitor Complex. Here you can experience blasting off in the Shuttle Launch Experience, a simulator that gives all of the sights, sounds and sensations of an actual launch. There are also tours of NASA, Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center (including the International Space Station Center, LC39 Observation Gantry, and the Apollo/Saturn V Center) and special IMAX space films.

Fort De Soto’s North Beach near St Petersburg is the No 1 beach in America. The water is clear, the sand is white and every once in a while you can spot a dolphin or two playing out in the gulf. The beach is really more like a park and has a ton of amenities like picnic tables, grills and bathrooms nearby.

The avid sports fan will not be disappointed with a trip to the west coast. St Petersburg and Clearwater are home to major league baseball, NHL hockey as well as NFL and arena football teams.
